I...don't understand. And I'm a little concerned about recovery should.I ever need surgery. So someone in the Fung-based fasting group I follow says they're having surgery. Part of pancreas is being removed. Person is being asked to drink things that will definitely spike her blood sugar beforehand. Now maybe there's some medical reason why you would want the pancreas in overdrive before surgery. But someone posts a flyer, says maybe this will help, says they prescribe the drink to all their surgery patients. What I zero in on - manage the insulin resistance that comes from surgery by loading up on carbs. Manage insulin resistance...with carbs. Manage ins...NO. Sometimes I forget we're in a nice, safe bubble. The reason I'm here is that I read in The Obesity Code that the way to treat insulin resistance is to STOP spiking insulin. Made so much sense. Started my journey. My brain is having the hardest time computing why this drink is helpful. How much insulin resistance is spiked because of this cocktail? How much inflammation and avoidable pain do surgery patients have because of this corn sugar drink? The carb loading for energy...that strikes me as wrong, but I better understand why folks are still trotting that out as a thing. I can't get over the cognitive dissonance from the IR paragraph. Has anyone done surgery without drinking the stuff? In a fasted state?
