Excuse my anger this morning: all-or-none thinking when it comes to lifestyle is actually the voice of food addiction Best to recognize this upfront than identify with it and think it’s you, it’s not you, it’s the addiction, it’s your primitive brain and all it’s glory So the next time you tell yourself, “I screwed up with my plan. Let me keep eating this way, I will start again next week” that’s food addiction (people without food addiction won’t lose control, have intense shame and guilt or eat until too full) The next time you tell yourself, “I have been doing so well I deserve a treat” that’s food addiction (people without food addiction don’t need to rationalize eating) The next time you tell yourself, “we shouldn’t waste food” remember than you are not getting the noble prize for ending world hunger when you finish your kids leftovers (like I used to), that’s the food addiction It’s important to understand that when it comes to other systems you care about like your car or your money, you would never allow the bank or the towing company to shame you, you wouldn’t allow them to give you excessive self-blame, and low self advocacy… yet when it comes to diet and the terrible m, shaming, food judgements from shitty doctors and trainers can be paralyzing, that’s ALL food addiction So do me a favor, drop that mindset like it’s poison, that is not you, it’s not your health goals, you likely have ZERO desire for obesity or diabetes… that inner dialogue, it’s your brain reconciling an addictive substance, in the setting of self-detriment Time to wake the up and grab your life back and start fighting against the doctors, the trainers and the food industry that kept you trapped
