A friend reminded me recently we signed up for a 5k. At the time we signed up, we had soooo much time to train. Now the clock is ticking, and I cannot tell you the last time I was in 5k shape. Probably 4-5 years ago. And an on-going hip/knee issue is currently flared up, so upping my time and mileage without making it worse will be a balance. That's my main concern...not so much the distance, but doing the distance without being in agony for the last mile or more. So...I'm starting small. Have things planned that help with the hip issue - strength moves, stretches, MELT foam rolling. What I've done so far has helped a little, but I have a ways to go. The 5k is at the end of August and is a night one. The night ones with all the glow in the dark stuff are always fun, plus we appreciate the cooler temps.
