Grilled Portobello Mushroom Cap Pizzas This is the method I followed, minus the marinating of the mushrooms. I used her method to scrape the gills (learned gentle hands are key), score the cap (light scores), and cook on the grill. I didn’t oil the grill or the mushrooms … I just plopped them on the grill, gill side down to start. Mine took much, much longer than 5 minutes per side, but that will totally depend on your grill, the wind, indirect/direct heat … you know, the 100 unknowns of grilling. Lol 😂 Just don’t walk away from them for too long. https://www.jessicagavin.com/grilled-portobello-mushrooms/ When the mushrooms were about five minutes from being done, I brought them back inside the house and added pizza toppings like a little red sauce, chopped salami, chopped mushrooms & pepperoncinis, and some mozz. Put them back on the grill until the cheese was melty and the sauce a little bubbly. Sky is the limit on how you stuff your “pizza.” What a fun family activity! Everyone making their own cap pizza!
