It is just amazing to me how much attention us diabetics have to pay to this if we want normal sugar levels (yes, non-diabetics too. But I have to be extra aware since my immune system murdered all my beta cells and left me as the only gatekeeper). You can see here that I was hovering 80-90 through the night, but as soon as I woke up and got out of bed to get ready for work, it shot up. Not crazy high, but still. I didn’t eat anything at all, and didn’t decrease my basal insulin (actually it’s set to increase basal in the morning). It was just the stress of waking up and living, that’s all! The endocrine system is such a sensitive and volatile thing. It’s beautiful, though. After all these years I’m still in awe of it.
