Always learning... Yesterday I went for my annual eye exam- my eye doctor was warning me about being diabetic and what it meant regarding my vision and general health. She told me she sees people my age with vision problems as a result of being diabetic. Clearly in the waiting room I could look around and speculate that most of the people in there were dealing with some sort of metabolic syndrome issue. Isn't it great when you see health care professionals that they can look at numbers and point out that a person has high lipids, is in the diabetic range etc. However they typically can't specify what to do to reverse or bring that condition under control other than going for that prescription or generalizing how to eat by giving you a handout called "my plate" Which by the way asks a person to eat carbs in proportion to fats and proteins. Then they send you on your way, thinking they did a great job in contributing to a persons health. They don't address specifics- they don't address personal motivation and provide a source for a partner who can help a patient in their journey. Everyone's journey is specific to the individual. i.e. what is this persons eating habits, why? What are the specific foods this patient can eat to regain their health etc. I see this when visiting multiple cardiologists as well. Most of these doctors look upon us as being "lower in the American "caste" system due to not having an advanced degree in medicine. We are people, we are sentient human beings, we are not uneducated- many doctors feel this innate need to put on full display their supremely higher intellect during our short visits with them. If they only poured their learned knowledge to work during our visits on actually specifying what we can do to get healthier other than just going to medicine and spouting out a few lines of generalizations. It makes me personally appreciate what I've found at this clinic and the people who work there. Be thankful for a team of people here at Tro's clinic that provide all the knowledge, resources and specificity to contribute to our journey in better health. Once I told my eye doctor I reversed my diabetes, she asked my how. I told her about doctor Tro. I actually had my latest A1C results in my pocket, she was taken back. I then took a CGM reading in front of her and my reading was 75. She immediately asked me for Tro's contact information...... Funny how a "dumb soldier" could possibly have found something that actually works
