#NewMe23 Week5 #2 Something I did right. I did not ever cheat. The only carbs I get are from onions, the occasional half avocado, low carb veggies, a splash of half and half in my coffee, and very rarely a low carb tortilla. Everything else was eggs, bacon, beef, chicken, lamb, pork, butter, olive oil, MCT oil. Something that can be improved. The scale did not budge. I am stuck at 187#. This is less than I have been for over 25 years, and I’m ok with it, but it would be nice to lose a little more. I feel like I am in ketosis, I am not my normally cold self, I radiate heat. I am also able to focus a bit more. But I don’t seem to have ketones in my urine. When I first (re)started doing keto last year, I did. So maybe I am fooling myself. Perhaps I should try harder to cut calories, but I don’t really feel like I am eating to excess. For example, so far today (it is 12:30), I have had two cups of coffee with a splash of half and half, one piece of pan-fried bacon, 2 eggs fried in the bacon grease, a little kimchi, some lemon water, a Tbs of MCT oil. Exercise doesn’t really seem to help with weight loss either. Playing just the numbers game, the other day when I walked 1.6 miles/4,521steps the health app on my phone guesses that I only burned an excess 109 calories, that’s nothing. So in summary, I need to experiment more with everything, including timing and amount of food intake, perhaps an occasional fast beyond my normal 8-10 hr eating window, and something to increase my metabolism. My daughter, on the other hand, needs to start monitoring her health better and being her own advocate when seeking help from her doctors.
