#newme23 - week 3, item 5 Gratitude Journal I have so much to be grateful for, but it really comes down to the people in my life. This past year has been a rough year for me as my mom passed away last year after having dementia for a few years. This weekend I am on an annual girls weekend away. This group of 12 friends has been together for over 20 years as we became friends when our kids were in elementary school together. I was thinking about our last trip and it was the weekend before my mom passed away last year in May. We have gone thru so many similar life experiences (i.e., high school & college graduations, caring for aging parents & then their deaths, marriages of our kids & even births of grandkids) & have supported one another through it all. Another group that has been incredible is my family - my husband, daughters, my siblings & their families as well as my aunts & uncles. We certainly have grown closer as we get together & retell favorite memories of both of my parents. (My dad passed away in 2018 & my mom came to live with me at that point). Now I can add this community to my list of supportive groups. I may never meet any of you in person & our communication may only be thru zoom calls or the message board, but we are all focused on improving our health! This is such a great place to discuss issues that I don’t feel comfortable talking about with my usual “people”. Thank you to @deletedmember, @Amy Eiges, @Brian Wiley, @Alice Smith, @DoctorLaura, the office staff & all of you on this discussion group!! You have become my people thru your support & honest discussion of issues that are critical to regaining my health and I am so grateful for this!!
