Week 2 #7 Sleep 7+ hrs a night. How was it? #NewMe23 If I’m going to be transparent I have to say that it is a rare night when I will sleep 7+ hours straight through. Every now and then but it doesn’t happen on the regular. This is and has always been my biggest struggle. I have learned that if once I start to wake up I’m not able to roll over and go back to sleep within a few minutes I’m better off just getting up. Otherwise the “wheels on the bus” start going round and round and I’m likely going to spike my own blood sugar by overthinking about....well, everything! I’m better off getting up and taking some quiet time to myself to read or listen to a podcast. I also adopted a 1-2-3 rule for my morning coffee (heard it on a Dr. Will Cole podcast) that seems to help me curb that dang Dawn Phenomenon. I wait at least 1 hour after getting up to have my first cup of coffee. I stick to 2 cups a day. And I do my best not to have caffeinated coffee after 3pm. Do I break my rules sometimes? Yep! Rarely on the 1st cup of the day though. But it’s an intentional choice each time! 🤷‍♀️
