New recipe tonight… so GOOD! My friend Lena shared it with me today verbally. I took some liberty and add a few things to my taste. This is my version of Lena’s Cabbage Casserole. —————————————— 1 1/2 lbs ground pork sausage 1 1/2 lbs ground beef 2 yellow onions chopped Garlic Powder Onion Powder Salt & Pepper to taste Brown the two meats with the onion and drain. 2 jars Rao’s Marinara Sauce 1 1/2 heads of cabbage shredded 2 cans petite diced tomatoes Heat up the sauce and throw in the shredded cabbage and tomatoes. Cook the cabbage down until it’s almost done. Add in the browned ground meat and mix well. I cooked it down a little bit more until it thickened up a little bit. Cottage cheese Italian Cheese/Mozzarella In casserole dish put a layer of the cabbage mixture, a layer or cottage cheese, a layer of cheese. Repeat as needed for depth of pan. Bake at 350 until cheese is bubbly. Let rest a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
