Good evening, I'm new to the community so I thought I would introduce myself. I'm Lynn, the big guy on the right in the picture with my family. I've was previously pretty low carb about 2 years ago, but have slip backwards, so I'm trying to get back on track. I'm 55, 6'3" and about 242 lbs right now. I've dropped about 8 lbs over the last month and my initial goal is to get to about 210. But I'm not just chasing weight loss. My A1C is about 6.3 and I would like to get that down in the mid 5s. We just buried my uncle a week before Christmas with severe T2 diabetes and I intend to avoid that particular fate and play with my future grandkids. I've just signed up for Nutrisystem so I could get my hands on a CGM and I have been wearing it for about 3 weeks. I find it very motivational to avoid the sweets and carbs because I don't want to see that spike. My numbers are floating along a little high all the time but I know it will come down if I work at it. Been a fan of the Low Carb MD podcast for a long time and Dr. Tro, I REALLY appreciate the work you guys are doing. My biggest challenge with all of this is TIME. I find that I have to do my own food prep to make this work. I am an aerospace engineer in middle TN working in wind tunnel design at a local Air Force test facility. I'm also a county commissioner, chair of an economic development board, and active in my church. So basically I attend a lot of meetings when I should be cooking. I hope to post a weekly update for accountability here. This will be a high stress week. Wife and I will be in Nashville for about 3 days while she preps and undergoes hysterectomy surgery along with tacking a few things up. Hope everyone has a great week.
