#NewMe23 post 5: note to self. I was going to try to motivate you but I realized that you first have to respect the person trying to motivate you, so I need to start with an apology. I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I haven’t treated you like a friend. I’m sorry that I have abused you for years (decades) and took you for granted. I’m sorry that I treated everyone else with more respect and looked down on you. I’m sorry that I only pointed out your flaws and never praised you for the good you’ve done. You are the one who has always been there for me and I should have said I love you more. Please forgive me, and I promise I will work hard to regain your trust. I do love you, and will tell you every day if I need to until you believe it. If we’re on the same team, we can do this.
