Yesterday I hiked 6 miles with my favorite hiking partner- my son Bobby. He was born with a single ventricle heart (“half of a heart”) and many other disabilities but he doesn’t let him stop him. By the time he was 5 years old he had survived 4 open heart surgeries and 6 months in Yale PICU fighting to stay alive. We didn’t think he’d ever walk after he had a stroke, but he’s now completed about 400 miles of the Appalachian trail (4+ states). Anyway, he’s been busy with school lately so we haven’t had much time to hike. Yesterday I finally got him out there again. I had so much fun with him! He’s my hero. Thanks for indulging my “proud mama moment”. He’s the reason I need to stay healthy.
