This is letter was posted with permission! I want you all to read it to show you what you are up against. What your trainers will say, what your doctors will say and what possibly your own family might say. It's important to be your own advocate! ❗️LETTER FROM A PATIENT❗️ "Reaching out to let you know how my follow-up visit went this morning with my doctor. She’s been my primary care doctor for a couple of years now. This morning, I went in super excited for all my fantastic results; normal A1C (from 7.6 to 5.5) I also told her that I lost 30 pounds in 3 months, reduced blood pressure, and I am feeling great! She wanted to know what I had been doing, and I excitedly shared all of my recent learnings and experiences with your practice I was shocked when she let me know that while my results were good, she felt that my diet was unsustainable long-term and that I would not be able to keep up with my progress. I told her that I had been learning from your practice but then she started talking to me about INCREASING my meds She told me that even though my A1C was normal now, I would ALWAYS & forevermore be a diabetic. That I would not be able to get away from this. Today was my last visit with this doctor. Regardless, I am thrilled with the progress I have made with you and the team in THREE months. If anything, I’m more motivated than I was before. I’m feeling great, and this is something that I want to keep doing forever Thanks again for all that you are doing to try and change the landscape for ALL of us. I just felt so empowered from all I have learned from you" 👇👇👇👇 BOTTOM LINE: YOU NEED to BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE! We will be talking with this doctor about motivational interviewing and how to inspire and NOT discourage patients. NOBODY messes with my patients like that!
