I had an interesting experience recently. About 2-1/2 weeks ago while lifting weights at PF, the younger pastor of the church I've been visiting walked by and saw me. He engaged me in conversation and was very interested in the process and progress of my journey thus far, of which I was happy to share in some detail about with him. The following week he reached out to me and asked if I was okay with him telling some of my story (without mentioning my name) from the pulpit. I told that was fine with me, even if someone asked him who it was. So that Sunday (2 weeks ago) he incorporated my story into his sermon. Well, evidently several people reached out to him and mentioned how it struck a chord in their own lives, acknowledging their own struggles with UPF/Sugar/Refined grains. He was at liberty to share my name as the person in the story. Yesterday I had two people approach me, mentioning how much they appreciated my journey and how they are really struggling to overcome their own food addiction, especially to sugar. That opened the door for me to encourage them and to provide some of the specifics of my own personal approach. People really respond to others who can identify with their struggles, without being lectured or minimized.
