Saw Dr. Calkins, Dr. Laura’s husband, yesterday from 3 months ago. Down 2 inches in the belly, lost 8 pds. He was able to look at Stelo’s graph and saw that the baseline was good; but, the glucose reaction to certain foods showed some insulin resistance. In order to lose more weight, I am to discontinue cheese, except for feta over something, but not as a snack by itself. Also to discontinue almond butter which I was using in my protein shakes. He too sometimes has problems to sleep (because he has so much energy!!!) and he sometimes consume broccoli before bed, as a carb, to increase his sleepiness. He says there is a science why carbs make you sleepy. I will eat carbs if I am not asleep by 3 am, if I have to work that day and have tried melatonin. He has asked me to do 10k steps 5 days a week. So I will try to figure that out without stressing the knees too much. I almost have to retire to get my health by in order! It is such a delight to work with a doctor who is so knowledgeable and working independently from the health establishment. For now, I determined to subscribe to Stelo as it is helpful for the doctor to see my progress and needed changes.
