Morning Check In: yesterday we celebrated our sons’ (twins) birthday, and included with the birthday meal was birthday apple pie (homemade). I was amazed at the blood sugar response - soooo much better than I expected! To me, this represents my body’s return to its factory settings, where I get an appropriate blood sugar and insulin response to a food such as that. I am under no illusions that if I ate sugars and starches on a daily basis, or even weekly, that I would be able to maintain this better metabolic health, of course, but I was so gratified to see it! Eating the sweet dessert did “wake up the dragon,” which I anticipated, and I will be extra careful today and tomorrow with stopping myself from following urges to eat more. Today two meals. Protein for lunch. No sugar/starch/lower fat. Going to the gym.
