Thank you for the discussion about stress during the group call this afternoon. It has been a stressful and traumatic last few days for me. On the 16th I went in to have a fairly common/routine procedure done on my knee, and as they were beginning and making the first incisions, I experienced a flash pulmonary edema and then cardiac arrest. They performed CPR for 30 seconds. I was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was on a ventilator for about 25 hours. I woke up in the ER, and was in and out all that day and night. They did an echocardiogram and a heart cath test, which all came back normal. So, they are not sure what caused it, maybe a reaction to the combo or amounts of sedation meds used? I don’t know. I was able to go home on the 19th. For the most part, I am holding to my eating windows and diet, but I am still processing what happened, and have lots of anxiety about what I remember, and the “time lost” that I can’t remember. I’m trying to remind myself to take it easy and be kind to myself. I am still pretty sore from the compressions but getting stronger everyday.
