Morning Check In: I have a family member who is very proud of the fact that she does not eat sugar. And I do think that’s great! But she also says how that will protect her from getting diabetes, and I think to myself “not so much”! Because her diet is HEAVY in flavored yogurt, granola, fruit, crackers, bread, pasta, potatoes and rice. If only she could see how just ONE sweet potato can absolutely ruin a beautiful blood sugar! That happened to me last night. I meant to eat just half, which I usually tolerate blood-sugar-wise if I eat it last, but last night I ate the whole thing and WOW!!! I even went for a walk after and it was still WOW!!!! Today I’m going to the gym, and doing some walking later. Two meals. No sugar and no starch! Smoked brisket for dinner! No snacking.
