We got a good question about this subject after last night's session from a member and thought we'd share the answer here: "Thank you for presenting this information. I do have questions in regard to helpful tips in transitioning into burning fat for people like me that have evidently slow metabolism. I will be attending Friday session, unfortunately not today. To move towards OMD and extended fasts, I have considered drinking apple cider vinegar and/or lemon juice with the electrolytes to sustain energy. That is technically breaking a fast, but maybe OK while attempting to burn belly fat? Side note: I am a vegetarian who has more challenges with low carb yet have fasted in the past and know the mental work needed to get through it." Great questions, and thanks for asking. A “slow metabolism” is usually more about how the body has adapted over time than about something broken or permanent. Fasting helps by lowering insulin and giving your body time to access stored fuel. The transition phase is usually the hardest part. ACV & Lemon Juice You’re right, technically, they break a fast. That said, in small amounts, they can be a good bridge if they help you get through the transition. If you do use them. Keep portions small and prioritize electrolytes, which fixes low energy better than anything else. Many people do just fine with plain electrolytes or mineral water + salt without ACV or lemon at all. OMAD & Extended Fasts: No need to rush this. Tightening your eating window first is often the easiest and most sustainable way to get there. We will have last night's recording up soon, and we touch on this in pretty good detail. Yes, being vegetarian and low-carb can be more challenging, but it’s doable with the right structure. Since you’ve fasted before, you already know the mental side matters as much as the physical. I highly recommend attending the Fasting No Lunch Support starting February 3rd with Coaches @Vic Basmadjian and @Tia Reid
