Morning Check In: Another successul day in the books, in spite of another loooooong drive. The day was identical to the day before in terms of food, with the exception of eating some cut vegies early in the day as I was REALLY hungry and I thought it wouldn’t matter much. But WOW!!! Those cut vegies DID matter! Here’s the thing: in terms of calories, they were negligable. In terms of what they did to blood sugar, and thus insulin, they were NOT negligable. Blood sugar went up. That means insulin also went up. When insulin is higher, I am in fat STORAGE mode, not fat burning mode. I sabatoged myself with my efforts to lose some weight by eating those vegies! I was hungry. I had not eaten since around 2:00 the day prior. I was burning my body fat for fuel! All that stopped when I ate those vegies. It is NOT calories, my friend, it is the effect food has on hormones. I should have let the hunger go away, as it always does if you wait a bit, and I would have continued in fat burning mode. On the plus side, I adhered to my plan of one “meal” (I don’t count the vegies as a meal) - once again at Chipotle! Today will be two meals, protein for lunch, and something yummy and yet to be determined for dinner that contains no sugar and no starch! Will be going for a good walk today.
