"All the leaves are brown And the sky is Grey I've been for a walk On a winter's day I'd be safe and warm If I was in L.A. California dreamin' On such a winter's day" Well, not entirely, but you catch my drift... Years ago, I used to fly the family for Thanksgiving or Spring break to California or Florida. It was a lot of fun. It's hard to believe that my oldest of 5 children is now 45 and my youngest is 31. Time flies... They all have children of their own now. This is one of the realities that motivated me into taking control of my metabolic health on July 29th of this year. I was going downhill faster and faster. Getting fatter and fatter. My joints were starting to kill me, my hips hurt so bad just standing and trying to help do the dishes. I couldn't walk from the L.R. to the M.B. without discomfort and losing my breath. My blood pressure was was really high despite being on a strong med with prescription strength diuretic. It started to effect my willingness to even get out and visit my children and their children. Because I was ashamed of how out of shape I was in. Afraid to sit on one of their chairs for fear of breaking it. I have so many other personal things I could share about my experience with obesity and the poor metabolic health that was driven by compulsive eating of sugar/carbohydrates. But praise God! I'm rewriting the script! Does it happen overnight? Of course not, we all know that. Nonetheless, the progress I have made in such a short period of time is almost hard to believe. If you are reading the community blog from afar and can relate, desperate for help and a change, please consider strongly pursuing a ketogenic diet approach. It will change your life for the positive. Now, back to my grandkids. I told them that I will take them on a nice trip next summer of fall once I lose the weight I need to. I'm halfway there now. So, I have promises to keep and am ready to continue the process now that I got through the first Holiday gauntlet unscathed. The next phase (Christmas & New Year's) is upcoming. It has more lights and a longer runway than Thanksgiving. However, I'm up for the challenge! Eyes wide open and on guard! Cheers!
