When out of desperation, I shifted to a ketogenic diet approach on 07/29 of this year, part of my WHY was a need to lose weight, that was the elephant 🐘 in the room. I really didn't know a whole lot about a truly low-carb diet option, so I just dove into the pool and figured I'd learn on the fly. I'm not an expert, but I'm learning. One thing I HAVE learned is that the Internet is full of all kinds of INFLUENCERS and "experts". You know, YouTube headlines that read, "Eat this and lose belly fat!...Do this fast for real results...This Doctor knows the secret to real weight-loss"! On and on it goes, until my head starts spinning after a while πŸ˜‰ I've not posted much about my weight-loss goal in the process, because I know if I just stick to what I'm doing, the weight will come off as I become more metabolically healthy. However, I'll take a minute to post some weekly numbers. My goal is to lose a total of 167lbs. How long it will take I am not sure. Plateaus and stalls are a normal part of the process. Tuesday marks 14 complete weeks since I began this process. The initial losses are obviously a lot of water release. As of this morning I'm down 67lbs, so I'm 100lbs away now since I started. I have been very consistent on what I eat, keeping my carbs to under 30g per day. If I'm not hungry, I don't eat. I haven't done any rigorous exercise, except for light upper body resistance lifting a couple of times per week at Planet Fitness. My weekly recorded weightloss in lbs is as follows: 1) 14 2) 7 3) 5 4) 11 5) 1 6) 5 7) 4 8) 3 9) 1 10) 2 11) 2 12) 7 13) 3 14) 2 During this time, my blood pressure has normalized, my glucose is normal and as confirmed by blood readings recently, I'm firmly in ketosis and becoming more adapted to fat-burning. Which I still have quite a reservoir to draw from. I'm sure my IR is dropping and will be confirmed when I test again in January. Overall, I would 100% recommend a ketogenic diet to anyone who is lurking in the background reading the posts on this forum looking for encouragement or direction on how to kick the sugar and ultra-processed high-carbohydrate addiction.
