Friday, October 3 SUBJECT: Intro to Fasting: The Basics (Week 1) Thanks for joining us yesterday for Week 1 of the Intro to Fasting (No) Lunch Support Group! This week, we reviewed the basics of fasting and its myriad of benefits for fat burning, metabolic health, improving insulin sensitivity and conquering/resetting cravings. Fasting With Flexibility Also discussed this week: how to navigate fasting and family life, social obligations and how important it is to pivot strategies during times of stress, vacations, and holidays. Your eating window is not cemented in stone, and setting yourself up for success means being realistic about what you can expect of yourself under these circumstances. In the weeks ahead, we’ll share information and education to support your journey with practical tools and strategies to begin and sustain a fasting practice. Your homework this week: If you haven’t already, please read the article Fasting: Get Started in 5 Simple Steps and watch the course: Keto & Intermittent Fasting, available to both premium and non-premium app members. Action items: Plan out your day to try to stick to an 8-hour eating window (if you’re already there, consider increasing your current window by one hour); Eliminate snacking and focus on satiating meals; Hydrate with electrolytes, seltzer water, bone broth, tea and/or coffee; Pre-plan the meals you will be breaking your fast with; Assess what you believe may be challenging with all of the above and come up with strategies for how you can handle them.
