During our meeting yesterday, we explored the many things that drive us to eat and how to protect ourselves in those situations so they don’t derail us. Understanding hunger is one of the foundations of our weight loss program and one of the reasons we choose a low carb lifestyle. Hunger will always win out — it is no match for willpower. Addressing these drivers helps move willpower much lower down the list of things you need to rely on. We also discussed: – Updated levers to adjust your approach as needed – Troubleshooting common side effects on carnivore – Reintroducing non-animal foods Your homework this week: In the app (Articles → Weight Loss Folder #3)*, read: 1. Why Do I Always Have Room For Dessert: https://community.toward.health/articles/44 4. Stress: https://community.toward.health/articles/29 – Try a new low carb recipe, protein, and/or plan your meals for the week ahead. Post a picture on the Getting Started message board or ask for advice on how others stay low carb with a busy life! If going full on carnivore feels unattainable right now, designate one day or even one meal that is going to be solely animal based and build from there. – Revisit your Week 1 written homework, where you assessed your “problem” people, places, foods, times of day, and situations. Consider the Swiss Cheese Model of Defense we shared yesterday. What is one defensive strategy you might use to protect yourself in each scenario? Share in the app or ask how others handle similar challenges. – And don’t forget to post in our Getting Started message board. It is filled with people who are navigating the same challenges or who have years of experience and wisdom to share. Post regularly to be eligible to win a prize at the end of the month. One last note: If you haven’t yet reviewed last week’s homework (Safely Implementing a Low Carb Diet), please take a look at Dr. Laura’s important medical considerations. And as always, check with your personal medical provider before making lifestyle changes, especially if you are on any of the medications listed in that slide. Have a great week!
