Like others in this group, I'm not just getting started, but at 68 years old I am new to the ketogenic diet approach. I'm only 7 full weeks in now, yet, it is nice to continue creating distance from when I was finally sick and tired of what had led me to being sick and tired. I was so out of control eating processed sugar, ultra-processed foods, and empty carbohydrates, it felt like I could never break the hold it had on me. Combine that with a significant knee injury I had in January and limited mobility, and I began to really spiral out of control, piling on the weight. Food, especially sweet foods like cake, donuts, and cookies became my comforter. My shot of heroin. Then, I began to follow people like Dr. Tro and others who encouraged me through their own testimonies that there is hope to naturally (by food) break the addiction cycle through a low-carb approach. Even in 7 weeks, the results have been incredible. My mind is clear, the sugar spikes that caused a constant level of hunger, sluggishness, and defeat have been brought under control. My knee is improving dramatically and I'm becoming more mobile now. I was never diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, however, I'm positive I was on my way there. My blood pressure has dropped significantly and I'm positive that when I go in for full blood panels in January, the results will be encouraging, especially as I continue doing what I am doing! Yes, I have goals. However, my main goal is to improve my metabolic health. This includes becoming fit and mobile. If anyone is interested to know, as of this morning, I have lost 47lbs on the scale in 7 weeks! Thank you for reading my long post! πŸ˜‰
