Great seeing everyone today!! This is an exercise you can do and bring to coaches corner anytime. Exercise Risk Situations (RS) ● Risk situations for relapsing. ● Learn to recognize these situations and consider them as serious conditions. ● Discuss with your group strategies to deal with them. This is something you learn for life. ● Write down 3 Risk Situations (RS) you know will occur within the next 3 months. ● Write down 3 Solutions/Strategies for each (RS) ● Use group/support for help with strategies. Once you do this write down what you have experienced /recognized as "Warning Signs" before going back to your old lifestyle. Use this for knowledge. Your early warning signs are set ups for a relapse. You need to be proactive to prevent and deal with relapses. As you continue to do this you can connect the warning signs to the risk situation and will have your strategies ready. Just a few examples of Warning Signs: o Negative thinking o Negative feelings o Worry about myself o Deny that I am worried o Worrying about others or become irritated with them o Defend/deny everything even when it is not necessary o Minimize problems o Criticize recovery as a lifestyle o Criticize other people’s recovery/behavior o Glorify my drug and my former lifestyle o Compulsive behavior o Impulsive behavior o Isolate o Angry, irritable, frustrated o Guilt/shame o Irritable, aggressive o Pretend everything is fine o Refuse help This takes time so as always trust the process and continue to remember your why. You are not alone in this!! Community Support is here for you.
