Another tool Delay, Distract and Decide is very helpful to prevent relapse and build distress tolerance. I will attach a PDF here you can use that I have found helpful. Have a great week! Use the Dopamine Acronym: D = Data What are you doing? Gather the facts of your consumption. O = Objectives Why do you do it? What do you get out of it? P = Problem Have you noticed what is not working out when you use? A = Abstinence Restore homeostasis takes at least 30 days, gets balance back and gets true cause and effect M = Mindfulness What is mindfulness? How will it manifest? You will be left with uncomfortableness but it's okay. Awareness is essential to your recovery. I love how she said in the book that the trick is to stop running away from painful emotions, and instead to allow ourselves to tolerate them. I = Insite Are you eating the cookie or is the cookie eating you? How did you feel when you abstained from your drug? Insights that we are not able to see when using the drug. N = Next Step Press the pause button between desire and resolution, when coming back from abstinence ask how did it go? What do you want to do next? Get a barrier between the drug and consumption E = Experiment Cold Water Baths, Exercise, intermittent fasting, trick body into thinking there is an energy hormesis, hormesis means to set in motion, these things can speed up recovery from withdrawal. Go out into the world with your new set points and make a plan to maintain. Radical honesty helps!
