Our skin and our gut are literally the physical ways our bodies interact with the world. They’re how we absorb sunlight and nutrition… but also how toxins, heavy metals, parasites, plastics, and chemicals make their way into our bodies. So why are we putting harmful substances on our skin or into our mouths that can compromise this essential connection? Personal care products… shampoo… lotion… makeup… deodorant… often contain dozens of chemicals that aren’t tightly regulated. The skin and the gut absorb more than we realize… including additives, microplastics, heavy metals, and other poorly regulated chemicals found in personal care products and food. Many of these compounds are linked to hormone disruption, allergies, and even cancer. In my work in metabolic and whole-body health, I often tell patients… “If you wouldn’t trust it inside your body, think twice before putting it on your skin or in your mouth.” Examine what you put into and onto your body. Are the foods you’re eating loaded with chemicals and additives? What about the everyday products you use… lotion… sunscreen… deodorant… toothpaste… even your laundry and dish detergent? How safe are they? Have you really looked? Food, cosmetics, and household products aren’t truly regulated… it’s the Wild West out there. Additives, chemicals, microplastics, and heavy metals slip through with little oversight. You’re on your own, so stay sharp and be vigilant. Read labels… research brands… question what you’ve been told is ‘safe.’ The choices you make daily shape your long-term health. Years ago, I started swapping out everyday products for cleaner alternatives. I didn’t expect much at first… but little by little, I noticed the difference. Fewer breakouts… clearer skin… less irritation… even my energy felt steadier. It wasn’t just about food… it was the lotion… the toothpaste… the detergent… the deodorant. Each change added up. That’s how real health shifts begin… small steps that protect both the skin and the gut, day after day.
