We were visiting about urges and the emotional or survival brain. We were talking about how it is beneficial to come up with an intention and do a body check at different times throughout the day. That way our conscious or rational brain can get used to things. When in an urge, our habitual or survival brain takes over Like this: With the urge, our survival brain is activatied. It thinks we are dying. It truly believes that there is not enough food and we will starve to death. In our survival brain’s world, it goes like this: feel hungry, need food, don't know if I will get more later, eat as much as possible now. When we are in urge mode, we cannot access our rational brain. That is why it is important to say the intention and do a body check in through out the day when our nervous system is not activated. I am becoming a person who does not use food to soothe her emotions I got this. 👍🏽💪🏽🌻
