I having been doing a thing lately & Dr. Tro suggested I post about it here to see if anyone wants to join me! My daughter started doing this challenge called 75 Hard. It’s this challenge where you do certain things for 75 days straight. My only knowledge of it prior to this was my 20 something nephews doing this over Thanksgiving. Basically seeing them working out in a hotel parking lot in the middle of winter was enough for me to say “no thank you”. When my daughter said she was going to do it, I looked up more info about it & decided it was something that I thought I could actually do. If you google “75 Hard”, you can find info about it. There is an app that you have to pay for, but I decided to do it on my own. I didn’t tell my husband for a few days (didn’t want to be talk about something & then fail at it after a few days) & my daughter still does not know. There are 75 Hard journals on Amazon, but they tend to have misspellings - so I just ordered a cute blank journal to document my progress. What I like about it is that I get to choose my workouts (two 45 minutes a day - at least one outside) & the way of eating (keto - less than 30g of carbs per day). Drinking a gallon of water was one of my daughter’s biggest challenge (she has since changed the challenge to “75 Soft”). I find drinking a gallon of water is not a problem for me. I have a gallon water pitcher I fill up & start drinking early & often! Another thing is to read 10 pages of a nonfiction/self improvement book. I decided to actually read a book I started a while ago - “Brain Energy” by Christopher Palmer. One thing I added to my version 75 hard is that I must start some sort of movement prior to 10 AM. This doesn’t mean I have to start a workout by then, just that I do something. Usually it means starting on my 60 air squats, 60 modified pushups or other such movements. This small step was making a big difference when I started it a few weeks ago. There are a few things that I am doing differently. Not taking daily selfies (although I do need to take one plus my initial measurements) & not proclaiming to the world that I am doing this (although I think I am changing that with this post!). Also, I don’t feel the need to have 3 hours between the 2 workouts (most likely there is a gap, but I feel it is more important to get the workouts in rather than be concerned with how much time in between). The final item that I am not doing is starting over with Day 1 if I mess up. I know where this kind of “all or nothing” behavior could end for me & it’s not good! I will post pics of the original 75 Hard challenge rules, my version of the rules, my cute notebook & an example of one of my daily entries. Today is Day 8 of #Hard75 for me.
