A few months back, I took a “tinned fish” class at this upscale deli in Ann Arbor (I imagine @Amy Eiges went there when she lived there). I took the class because I knew I needed to learn to eat sardines. I would not call myself a picky eater, but I have never liked canned fish (including tuna). My friend & I tried the various options (still was not a fan), but I purchased some to bring home. Well that was a while ago & I still haven’t tried any of these sardines. Today I decided was going to be the day I was going to eat some of these fishy delights that some rave about. I knew I was going to have to mask to taste, so I found a sardine egg salad recipe. Made it using avocado mayo, hard boiled eggs, onion & garlic. I was surprised that it wasn’t that bad. Crackers were mentioned as a medium to eat this salad, but I didn’t have any low carb crackers handy. So I improvised using a bag of loaded taco quest chips. I’m sure I broke all sorts of culinary rules by combining these very different items, but that’s okay! 😂😂 I finished the strange combination & I have to say it tasted better than I expected it to taste. Am I a fan of sardines yet? No, but I found a way to eat them. No pics as it was not a pretty sight, but here’s the sardine egg salad recipe if anyone would like to try it. https://freshbitesdaily.com/sardine-egg-salad/
