#springtowardhealth Using what I have learned through strength training to keep my back healthy. Hip hinge is so important when lifting, weather it be weights, a bag of soil or just bending over to pick up a very light item off the floor. A hip hinge is exactly what it sounds like, your hips are the hinge. "Bend" over by pushing your butt back, keeping your spine straight, shoulders and head in line with your spine (not drooping). When done properly you won't feel your back taking the weight, your leg muscles will be taking the load and feeling it. It sounds like a lot, but the effort is worth it. I still go through the steps in my head to help keep doing it right as many years of doing it wrong will take a while to overcome.
