Robert Lustig Podcast episode and Fibre: I really enjoyed episode 337 of the Low Carb MD podcast. Probably like many here Robert Lustig’s books were one of the things that got me into low carb and keto. He talked about fibre and I was surprised at how dismissive he was about the carnivore diet and its lack of fibre. He talked about his commercial venture that seems to be aimed at helping improved bad diets at a population level, and adding fibre to make junk food less junky could be beneficial. However on an individual level I’m now confused. I’ve been 90% carnivore since January and have felt great, lost weight, and found the benefits people talk about. My digestion has been excellent the 90% of the time I’m carnivore and back to how it used to be the 10% of the time I eat a Standard Australian diet (same as a standard American diet without the high fructose corn syrup haha). I’m talking minor constipation and laborious movements compared to the infrequent but quick and clean movements on carnivore. Shouldn’t be worried about not having any fiber/fibre in my diet on carnivore leading to longer term gut issues? And can anyone link to further reading that backs up Dr Lustig’s view on fibre? Thanks!
