#springtowardhealth @Diane Lloyd I saw your comment on @Brian Wiley ‘s post about focusing-on-sleep and thought I’d bring a few of my thoughts & perspectives here. First, You always ask such GREAT questions! I miss not “seeing” or hearing from you more! Sleep is HARD, because what works well for one person may not work at all for another. *FOR ME* stress reduction is key. Not even major stress just stuff like; the kitchen is clean, the coffee is set up for the morning, the dishwasher is going, more minor things aren’t standing in my way of being able to sit & “unwind.” I even like to do all the things ppl do before bed like my teeth-brushing-routine so it’s done. Typically those nights are when I have better sleep. There are also things that will almost certainly guarantee me a lower sleep score like late eating, late exercise (even a looong walk,) late showering, a new sleep environment (hotels, etc..) or having to do the kinds of things listed in the paragraph above right before heading to bed! Life loves throwing us curveballs though so I’ve tried identifying the sleep-stealing culprits for me & doing what I can as often as I can to avoid them. I’m often not successful but I just keep on trying… A good example was last night. I made, ate & cleaned up dinner early, I showered early, I did all the things early with plans of climbing into bed an hour earlier. To be honest that’s not a strategy that usually works real well for me but in the spirit of trying I laid down early. ANNND promptly got a call from my twin brother. He’s had a tough couple of years medically and just needed to talk & “see my face.” I answer those…..always. And I talk with him until he’s feeling better and is ok to sleep….always. 🤷♀️ Maybe I’m the anomaly here…I don’t know. I do know it helps to put it down in writing, that’s all. Any comments/perspectives or whatever are for sure welcome!! 😎 👍
