Tomorrow I am hauling my husband and son (almost 15) to Mind Games (https://www.mensamindgames.com) for three days of board game madness. Last year, I only hauled husband along; we had fun and made some friends. Also, I was still eating crap and it was definitely a crapfest of an event. So much chocolate and other junk. This year I'm 65+ pounds lighter than I was at last Mind games (still not even halfway to my goal), and also dirty carnivore and OMAD. My carnivorous ways are even rubbing off on my family: husband is about 80% carnivore at this point, kid has started emphasizing meat for snacks, and even my meat- and salt-limiting 77YO mother (who lives with me) is eating noticeably more meat (with salt) and less fruit. There are 4 meals included in the event (lunch & dinner on both Fri & Sat), and I managed to get the menus for them to confirm that I will be not participating in the meals. It's worth noting that I *do* think that the organizer made good menu choices given the budget, number of participants, and vocal vegetarian/vegan contingents. Since we have plans to go to a Brazilian steakhouse (Estampa Gaucha - looks Fogo-like) on Thu with friends, I just need to be prepared for the rest of the time, both to feed myself and to keep my people out of the junk food room (seriously, there's a "hospitality" room full of junk food). Since the hotel has refrigerators (and we have connecting rooms, so 2 refrigerators), this afternoon prepped our food. We will be taking: - 27 grilled ⅓ lb angus burgers (bagged in groups of 3) - 10 grilled polish sausages from Polack Johnny's (5 original, 5 spicy) - a pack of Costco pre-cooked bacon (there's a Costco nearby as well) - 9 hard-boiled eggs (also, salt & pepper shakers) - 7 deviled eggs (14 halves) - bag of Roltini proscuitto/cheese things - large tray of various cheese slices (from BJs) - ½ lb of Kerrygold butter (because grilled burgers are too lean) We are also taking a ZeroWater pitcher, a kettle, and a full-sized coffee maker. And coffee and tea. I think I'm well-prepared and I might post a cooler photo tomorrow. This sounds like a lot, but my kid considers 3 of the burgers to be a snack. The kid is almost 15 and is 6'1" tall, 170 lbs, and a competitive swimmer.
