Initial impressions with the Freestyle Libra 3 after one week: * Application was easy. That intimidating needle looking thing was no sweat at all. * I loved being able to check my BG any time of the day or night. As someone who did finger-prick testing for years, this level of feedback was amazing. * I spend a lot of time in a hot tub when there's one available, and apparently even the sticky Libra was no match for that level of steam. It started coming off this weekend in the hot tub and I had to order a new one. Note: Abbot will send you a replacement if you contact them about it, so don't hesitate. And I have ordered some adhesive cover patches to protect the Libra from moisture going forward. * First impressions at the gym: resistance doesn't budge BG, aerobic doesn't either, but HIIT sends my BG spiking through the roof (170) and then right back down again at a lower baseline than before. I assume this is my body reacting to the high intensity interval by furiously flushing its glycogen stores, then putting it all that glucose away soon after realizing the workout is done? Interesting. * I still do finger-prick testing with both a Precision Xtra and Keto Mojo. The finger-prick numbers often don't match up with the CGM, sometimes off by more than 30 mg/dL. Usually the two blood-based sensors are closer to each other than to the CGM. I am recording my PX and KM numbers in the app when I take them so I can maybe study this more formally later. The CGM is really more about trends than hard numbers, but it's invaluable for that alone. All in all I love the feedback I get from this, and I love that this practice is fully utilizing this amazing new technology.
