I have 1590 fasts recorded in the Zero app, with a streak of 1463. I wish I could still recommend the Zero app for fasting but they have become too pushy for a subscription and it’s really hurt the experience. So I am open to trying the Life app if a group invites start happening here. The longest fast I’ve done is 120 hours. I’ve done a heavy weight lifting Smart workout at 72 hours fasted, that was not fun and I probably wouldn’t do it again as I felt really weak getting through it. I regularly do 36 to 40 hour fasts in between weight lifting, routine works very well. But I do not fast as a punishment. I have no hesitation on breaking a fast if I feel I need to. Fasting doesn’t always go according to plan and hunger levels can vary each time. I did a 16 hour fast the day after finishing the 120 and felt more famished. That shocked me, I don’t think I would have believed it until I felt it happen to me. I am very used to eating post weight lifting workout. So I tend to eat earlier in the morning because I lift early in the morning. The body gets very used to signaling hunger according to routine, so on fasting days I feel the hunger when I would normally eat. I like to leverage sleep to extend fasts so skipping dinner works very well for me. I’ve done a lot of trial and error to figure out what works, it’s ok to take it slow when starting out and unsure what you are capable of, which will be more than you think once you prove it to yourself.
